Crowned in Mist — A Glimpse into the

I wanted to capture the feeling of heavy, cinematic stillness by focusing on dramatic pause in motion. The goal is to bridge the gap between realism and expressionism.

It has been nearly a year since I touched a graphite pencil on smooth paper. I’ve been so immersed in the grit of charcoal and watercolor textures that returning to A3 cartridge paper felt like a total reset.

The challenge wasn’t the likeness, It was the depth.

On this smoother surface, graphite often lacks the “black hole” intensity I need for my Soulink style. To kill the leaden shine and find the true void, I had to innovate, a heavy blend of graphite powder and black pastel to push the darkness while holding on to the matte look.

This piece serves as a checkpoint. It’s a bridge between the precision of my past and the expressive, mixed-media energy of my future.
